Amitabh Bachchan: the megastar of the Indian film industry needs no introduction at all. Amitabh Bachchan Sir celebrates his 78th Birthday. We at the top school in Jharsuguda wanted to tell his story in our words.

The actor has millions of fans not only in Bollywood but all over the world. The megastar turned 78 today. Noted film personalities and others have come forward wishing the megastar on social media.

The actor didn’t forget to thank his fans amidst his birthday celebrations. He has thanked all those who wished him via his Instagram account. He replied saying ‘your generosity and love be the greatest gift for me. I cannot possibly ask for more’.

When Inquilaab turns to Amitabh

Amitabh Bachchan was born in Inquilaab Srivastava on October 11, 1942 in Allahabad.

However, at the suggestion of fellow poet Sumitranandan Pant, his father Harivansh Rai Bacchan changed his name to Amitabh, which means ‘the light that will never die’.

The Beginning of an Era

After completing his education in New Delhi, he worked for a shipping company in Kolkata for seven years. Then he reached Mumbai and some film personalities got attracted to his voice. He made his film debut in 1969, as a voice narrator in Mrinal Sen’s National Award-winning film Bhuvan Shome. His acting life started after that.

The Journey in Bollywood

His first acting role was as one of the seven protagonists in the film Saat Hindustani directed by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas. The film Zanjeer established Amitabh in a new persona the “angry young man” of Bollywood cinema. He is the host of the popular TV Show Kaun Banega Banega Crorepati (KBC).

Personal Life

He married Jaya Bachchan in 1973 and the couple has two children.
